Different Halloween Workouts For Family

Warm up: Game of Tag

Everybody loves a good game of tag! Tag one family member as “it” and chase each other around for 5 minutes. Extra points to those who adopt a little extra Halloween spirit with scary noises or zombie walk!

Spider Walks

Start by sitting on your bottom with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Your hands will be behind you with palms flat on the floor. Using your arms and legs, lift your bottom up off the floor. Walk forward on your hands and feet for 20 feet pretending like you are a spider. Walk backwards for 20 feet. Repeat 3 times.

Zombie Walk

Stand up with your arms out in front of you like a zombie. Walk forward by trying to kick your leg up to your hands while keeping the knee straight. Only kick as high as you can keep your knee straight (if you have tight hamstrings this may not be very high!) Zombie walk 20 ft down and back 3 times. Zombie noises are encouraged.

Corpse Crunches

Lay on your back with your knees bent, and your arms pointing up to the ceiling. Perform a sit up keeping the arms out straight (think corpse rising out of a coffin). Return to laying down. Perform 3 sets of 10 sit ups.

Angry Cat’s

Get on your hands and knees. Arch your back like you are any angry Halloween cat, and then return to normal. Think about tightening your abdominal muscles as you arch your back. Perform 3 sets of 15 reps.

Mummy Balance

Yoga challenge! Wrap your arms around yourself like a mummy, and then wrap one leg around the other. You should now be standing on one foot. (If you have little ones who can’t stand on one foot yet, have them try closing their eyes with their arms wrapped around them and one foot in front of the other.) Try and balance for as long as you can! Best out of 3 rounds wins!

Pumpkin Squat & Toss

Choose an appropriately sized pumpkin for your family. When holding the pumpkin, squat and toss your pumpkin to another family member. You can do this in partners, or toss around in a circle. If you’re tossing in a circle, switch directions halfway through. Squat and toss for 2 minutes, and do that 3 times.

Corpse Pose

Time to cool down and focus on your breath! Lay on your back with your hands by your side or on your belly. Close your eyes, and breathe in and out through your nose. Perform for 2 minutes.

We hope you enjoyed your Halloween workout! Stay safe if you’re going out trick-or-treating!
