I love the range of workouts that have become easily accessible. Spin, barre, yoga, trampoline, goat yoga, you name it; it is probably out there. With so many options, people spend endless free trials sampling studios in town in search of the perfect fitness community. This week I wanted to share 3 things you should consider when searching for your fitness haven.
- The Goldilocks Effect
Your workout routine should be not too hard, not too easy, but just right. For some reason, we love to use extreme muscle soreness as bragging rights. I do not believe in “no pain no gain” or “pain is weakness leaving the body.” Sometimes pain (especially the type where you don’t walk right for a week) is your body’s way of saying I am not quite ready for that. On the flip side, if you skip out the door thinking that was a piece of cake it was probably too easy. The just right workout leaves you feeling accomplished, challenged, and motivated to come back the next day. - Fun Factor
Our bodies are made to move and it should be fun! Maybe it’s the music, the people, or the type of workout that makes you smile. Find a work out routine that is enjoyable for you. This is your personal time to refresh and take care of yourself. - Variety
We saved the best for last. Our bodies need to be strong in a wide range of movement patterns. If we don’t provide new challenges; our physical progress plateaus, we lose motivation, and we get bored. Flexibility, cardio, and strength are all important components to consider. Find a work out routine that incorporates multiple movement patterns and types of exercise. Unfortunately, many boutique studios only offer one type of class. This is a dangerous trap to fall into.
There is no one size fits all exercise prescription. The most important part is to get moving in a safe and controlled environment.
At Compleo we offer CompleoFIT with each day of the week offering a different type of workout. As a physical therapist, I have supervised the development of our fitness program to allow safe modifications so all levels can find the “just right” level of difficulty. No matter where you are on your fitness journey we are here to help you get moving. We hope you can find a challenge, fun, and variety with CompleoFIT!

I like that you mention finding a fitness studio that can offer a different type of exercise so your body gets an overall workout to benefit you. I just moved to a new city and I’m now looking for a studio to go to. I want to find one that is fun but will push me to be better. It’s important to take the time to compare different studios in your area to see which one would work best for you.
Thank you for the 3 tips for choosing the perfect fitness studio. I definitely like the idea to make the workouts fun and interesting. you want your workout time to be energizing but also relaxing to you and a chance to have your own personal time.
We agree! Thank you for reading. This is something we try hard to promote at Compleo.
Fun factor for me is the most appealing whenever looking for a fitness studio. When you are having a good time with your gym mates, you create a relationship and it makes you motivated and enjoy the fitness program.
